Did you know that more than half of Americans either own or work for a small business, and they create about two out of every three new jobs in the U.S. each year?1
The U.S. Small Business Administration hosts National Small Business Week each year in honor of the critical role small businesses play in bolstering their local, regional and national economies. This year’s celebration kicks off Sunday, April 30 and runs through Saturday, May 6.
It will feature a mix of in-person events and virtual webinars aimed at showcasing America’s entrepreneurs and small businesses and providing resources for further training.
What’s happening locally?
The SBA has planned in-person events in Washington, D.C.; Indianapolis; Dallas; and Fresno, Calif. They will broadcast several of these events live on their Facebook page. In addition, they encourage small business supporters to use NSBW’s official hashtag, #SmallBusinessWeek, to follow the conversation online and find events in their area.
In Pennsylvania, use the hashtag #PASmallBiz17 to find local events. The Pennsylvania Small Business Development Centers and the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development have teamed up to plan more than 20 events statewide. CNBC and Comcast will also host a networking, small business panel and casting event Thursday, May 4 at La Peg in Philadelphia.
We believe in the power of small business.
As a small business ourselves, all of us here at Moving Targets understand the pressure on our small business partners to not just work in their business — but also work on it. Since 1992, we’ve consulted with thousands of businesses to provide them with the strategic, tactical and technical support to tackle their marketing challenges.
